Rickshaw

We got on the plane!  The second day was like having the golden ticket.  Everything seemed to be going our way.  We were pulled first in lines, granted immunity from customs and let on the airplane.  Amazing!  We arrived in Nepal late Thursday night after a long day of travel.  Needless to say, we had a very sleepy little girl who was not impressed it took 4 people an hour to hand us a visa.  We took an "adventurous" car ride to our hotel and made it to bed by 12.  Unfortunately, Anabel's internal clock went off at 4:45 this morning, so we were all up.  By 8 am we had eaten breakfast, taken showers, visited a garden and had a ride on a rickshaw.  I was ready for a nap.  We spent the rest of the day meandering around Kathmandu amazed at the cheap North Face gear (10 dollars for nice fleeces) and Michaele getting a massage (YAY!).  All in all a good day.  Thank you for the prayers, we are certainly doing better and enjoying the trip more and more.

We wanted to share a few photos with you.  The first picture is Anabel begging for a ticket at the Delta counter.  The second picture is her celebration party for succeeding (asleep in first class).  They have real silverware up there.  The third picture is one of two rides on a rickshaw today.  Anabel actually fell asleep on the second ride, through one of the busiest and loudest streets I have ever been on in my life.
Our journey continues...I let Anabel know this morning we would not be going on an airplane today.  She looked at me and smiled and then asked "airplane morrow?"  I reluctantly answered yes.  We head to Bhutan tomorrow (only a one hour flight) but we will not have internet.  I will send more pictures in 7 days.  We are really hoping to get a view of Everest on the plane ride.  Hope everyone is doing well and keep the prayers coming.  Til next time...JAM

KTM vs KTN

When we started this trip at 4:30am, I did not think one little letter could make such a difference.  What I learned today…KTM is the airport code for Kathmandu (where we are supposed to be right now).   KTN is the airport code for Ketchikan, Alaska (where Delta wanted to send us).
Here is the scene.  We have spent several hours in front of the Delta service area to be told we were supposed to have an infant ticket.  For all of you parents out there this is common knowledge.  However, after 4 previous phone calls to Delta they told us it would be fine…not fine.  We finally got the tickets sorted and about to head off when someone caught that the ticket was going to Ketchikan, Alaska.  The nice lady at China Southern finally asked us if “we wanted to board without the infant since her ticket was the messed up one”.  I did not respond, although I thought about itJ
All in all we are still in Sydney for the night and trying this over tomorrow.  We are hoping for better results.  We knew it was going to be an adventure, but from the first second.  True JAM style… Accepting all prayers as this trip has already proven to be exciting.
P.S. The picture above was taken after Anabel told Josh we were going to Alaska instead of Nepal.
